The three new notebook family SL300, SL400 and SL500, which we have spoken in our previous news, we feature the latest technologies such as integrated mobile broadband connectivity at high speeds, the excellent multimedia capabilities through a Optional Blu-Ray DVD player, and the chassis design glossy black. To make the experience of computing more productive and simple, Lenovo also includes a software that helps in all aspects, from data recovery to simplifying Internet connections.
"The name ThinkPad has been synonymous with leadership in computing for business users," said Peter Hortensius, senior Vice President, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo. "Now we're bringing the same quality and reliability that ThinkPad is also recognized for users of small enterprises through technology such as broadband high-speed mobile.
In addition, Lenovo announced the launch of six additional notebooks, the ThinkPad R400, R500, T400, T500, X200 and W500, which use different technologies already tested in the ThinkPad X300, the flagship of the range of Lenovo products. The new T Series includes technologies such as integrated graphics or not, and support DisplayPort. These models extend the range of Lenovo products certified "Gold" by the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool. These latest ThinkPad, including the SL series, are based on Intel Centrino 2 processor technology. The new ThinkPad will be available in the second half 'of August, the prices will be announced later.
The quality, convenience, service and support are important factors for notebook users small and medium enterprises, or SMEs, Lenovo solutions take into account all these elements. Lenovo designed notebook designed just for the way they work for users of small and medium enterprises - at home, at work, at the park or at the bar. With the need to stay connected, some models of ThinkPad SL notebooks are available with integrated high-speed mobile broadband (WLAN Ready). These notebooks also feature WiFi technology, Ethernet and Bluetooth (on selected models).
The number of SMB users is growing dramatically. IDC predicts that in 2009 the segment of Small & Medium Business (SMB) market will account for 31% of PC notebook (including ultraportables) worldwide. Growth in this segment is outpacing that of traditional buyers of large volumes of large and very large. In the U.S., IDC thinks that the SMB segment will grow from 7.5 million notebooks in 2007 to 11,6 million expected in 2011.
The new notebooks also stand out for their multimedia capabilities. Speakers, microphone ( 'Dual Array') and a 2 megapixel webcam (available on selected models) are a great help to optimize Internet voice and video conferences. Also support for HDMI / VGA (High-Definition Multimedia Interface / Video Graphics Array) allows users to view video content like movies in high definition. The ThinkPad SL series combines the performance design, thanks to a glossy black cover, the first for a ThinkPad.
Known in the industry for their hardware reliability, Lenovo designed the notebook focusing on durability and performance. The system of Lenovo's Active Protection System, which is similar to an air bag protects the hard drive from falls, the keyboard is structured to withstand accidental spills, and an optional fingerprint reader helps prevent access to data by unauthorized users. The ThinkPad SL300 also have an LED backlit display reduced power.
Software and services complement the solution. Without a dedicated IT support, users often have little help in connecting to the Internet, managing passwords, data recovery and updating their computer. The suite Lenovo Care Tools, integrated into the PC, solve common problems and helps avoid the frustration and time loss often associated with the management of their computer. The notebooks are finally equipped with the solutions: Lenovo Access Connections, Client Security Solutions, Rescue and Recovery, Presentation Director and System Update.
To help small businesses to get maximum productivity from the new ThinkPad and answer the growing demand for safety and security, Lenovo ThinkPlus Secure Business is deploying the first of several new customer service packages designed for Small and Medium-sized enterprise that is characterized by :
Update corporate guarantee on-site next-day
ThinkPad protection offering repair or replacement of PC in case of accidental fall of spills or power surge.
