Samsung Q210 and Q310, two new ultralight notebooks
Samsung has introduced this morning in Madrid a whole new range of laptops, almost all with one thing in common in their design: piano black finish with a red stripe running along the bottom of the keyboard. A visual detail that is present in the models Q210 and Q310. They are the new commitment of the Korean company in the sector of ultralight, which already had a design model as colorful as the Aura Q45.
At first glance, differ in screen size: 12.1 and 13.3-inch screen, both with 1280 x 800 resolution. This brings its consequence on the weight a little lighter in the Q210 with 1.95 kilos. The Q310 runs in those 2 kilos, just limit the industry for equipment brand executives, business professionals and others who, for reasons of work, can not move without carrying a laptop. And the goal is that these people reach old with back in good condition, hence its lightness.
Inside, are practically identical. In fact Samsung's launch in Spain in August and with the same starting price: 1,000 euros. The problem is not yet decided what will be their basic configurations. They have not even provided data on something as fundamental as the speed of processors, the new platform will Montevina (or Centrino 2) Intel has developed this year. But for the moment, we can tell you some details provisional.
The hard drive will vary between 120 and 320 gigabytes, and so is the RAM, which will go from 1 to 4 Gigabytes. For graphics, you can opt for an integrated card Intel GMA X4500, which borrows the video memory of the system RAM, or an external graphics Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS. This, in turn, carries its own 256 megabytes of memory just for video, so the machine does not slow down too much to see very strong graphic content.
In any case, their screens are not designed for watching videos in high definition, they are small and do not even have a reader in Blu-ray, but with the usual DVD player-recorder. At least have a connection HDMI so we can watch content stored inside on the big screen of a television slim without losing quality in the transfer.
The rest of his team is more than usual Internet connection via Ethernet and Wi-Fi, wireless Bluetooth to transfer files wirelessly small, 1.3-megapixel webcam, three USB ports, one VGA, microphone input and outputs for headphones and speakers. That yes, the Q210 card reader accepts only three formats (SD, SDHC and MMC), while the Q310 gets along with seven (the above plus MS, MS Pro, MMC plus, xD).
