For HP, netbooks live up to 2 years
We present in this report, certain statements of Hewlett-Packard lifecycle of netbooks that do not excite the owners of these devices.
Richard Finlay, Project Manager of the Public Service Association (PSA) in New Zealand has complained against HP, after seeing that three of the six netbooks have left the company lists just 15 months after their purchase. To this he responded the Development Manager at HP, Gill Brown, saying: "The units purchased are primarily entry-level models and, as such, their life expectancy from 15 to 24 months." For Richard Finlay, however, this is not an acceptable answer, especially because netboook HP are among the most expensive ones on the market.
He also states that on 80 laptops classics that PSA has become a model only had problems after 18 months of purchase. Simon Molloy, Manager, HP Business Notebook in the field, explains that this data is normal, because the lifespan of a notebook and a desktop PC is between 3 and 5 years, adding that it is logical that netbook and ultraportable have less longevity in relation to their nature. In practice, according to Molloy, users exploit and "bully" a netbook than a desktop PC.
Finally, the manager simply HP recommends consumers to invest in a full 3 year warranty.
