Were published the results of some tests on a Toshiba AC100 equipped with two Nvidia Tegra platform. The results are more than convincing in terms of performance, less for autonomy.

The site CarryPad has announced the results of some tests on smartbooks AC100 equipped with the Toshiba SoC (System on Chip) nVidia Tegra 2. The system used is based on version 2.1 of Android and it is characterized, as noted, a display of 10 inches diagonal. For other specifications we refer to previous articles.

The tests were conducted to test the appearance of multimedia and gaming. One of the most valuable is the ability to playback H.264 1080p 13Mbps, WMV 8.5Mbps and 6.5Mbps video in a completely fluid, suggesting a certain power of the solution from nVidia. But the execution of Thunder Racing 2 (1024 x 600 pixels resolution adopted) was more than satisfactory. Only by way of comparison, Toshiba AC100 scored over 1,900 points against the Nexus 1400 and 1150 One of the Moto X Droid The software used for testing is Quadrant Aurora Softworks, a solution dedicated to the benchmark of mobile systems.

These results open the way for different implementations of nVidia's SoC solution that is proposed as a high level of integration for multimedia. With excellent results on the performance side, the tests revealed some problems related to autonomy. It is unclear whether the problems attributable to the firmware used but the operation dell'AC100 Toshiba standby with WiFi turned on did not go beyond 12 hours, particularly abnormal value because, generally, a smartbooks is constructed so likely to be active for several days without needing a recharge.

The graphs shown on the site CarryPad is easy to see how the information about the battery providing a 76% consumption during the standby state resulting in the WiFi only 11%. Obviously something did not go the right way. Same unsatisfactory results during ordinary use. Tests have shown an operation of about 5-6 hours whereas the only web browsing.
